I have created this web site as a record of two great evenings, when Charlene Quince and I (Billie Cook), were asked by the Costa Blanca Anglo-Spanish Association
( Charlene was a founder member) and the Javea Book Club, to recount memories of our happy years in Javea in the 70's and 80's.
Also, because 3 months after we gave the talks Charlene, an American, died here in her beloved Javea and I would like this to be a tribute to a special lady.
She was the first to publish the tourist guide to Javea in 1975 called the Dawn of Javea, and in 1999 we collaborated to bring out an updated book called
Javea/Xabia - A year in the life of a Spanish Town
with Charlene's text and over two hundred of my photographs.
She also published a book on the Castles of the Costa Blanca and also a trilogy of the Trastamara Dynasty 1369 - 1561. - Castles Ablaze-- Vol 1 - Leonor. Vol 2 - Juanita and Vol 3 - Isabel.
( The trilogy is available in Bookworld Espana, and the Javea/Xabia Book.
which is also available in Polly's Bookshop,Take 4 and La Rulla in the Port,
and Humpty Dumpty Newsagent in Javea Park. )
The spinning blue arrows will guide you through the site and the static blue arrows will bring you back. You can choose to move very quickly through the pages in this manner or take it more slowly and come back to the site at your leisure
(Homepage, six pages of memories, 7 pages of enlarged pictures, the majority of which were used in the Anglo-Spanish Assn.
and Book Club talks.) and a recipe for paella.)
Please note - to enlarge the photographs click on the spinning daisy situated on each of the six pages.
They are then presented in a much bigger format -
hope you like them
For foreigners and Spaniards from other regions,
who get to know Javea, a deep affection for the town and it's citizens grows, very often to a point
where owing a holiday home
and eventually retiring here,
becomes a major goal in their lives
